Zambia: K600 Million for Livingstone Roads Upgrade

THE Rural Roads Unit (RRU) will spend K600 million to upgrade selected township roads in Livingstone, District Commissioner Paul Sensele has said.

Mr Sensele said the money would also be used to put up Kalaluka Bridge near Libuyu Township.

He said the upgrading of township roads would improve the face of the tourist capital, as some roads were currently in a poor state.

"We have received K600 million through the RRU to upgrade roads as well as put up Kalaluka Bridge in Libuyu Township.

We also want to work on culverts in Shungu where some residents were attacked by crocodiles," he said.

Last year, rehabilitation works on six critical roads in Livingstone were commissioned at a cost of approximately 3.8 million Euros, which were savings from the Zimba-Livingstone road.

The six roads were Kaunda, Kafubu, Sichangwe, Airport, Chipata/Botswana/Lenda, and Siambelele/Linda/Chipembi.
