South Africa: Jabulani Housing Project Might Leave People Homeless

press release

While the IFP has welcomed the R487-million Jabulani Community Residential Housing Project, which was recently launched by the Government, the IFP believes that it does not go far enough to address Gauteng's housing problems.

"We note that the hostel at Jabulani is expected to be completely demolished to make way for new housing units. These houses will be for rent, probably at a much higher price than what the hostel dwellers are currently paying, or can afford. This project has the potential to leave more people homeless, than those with roofs over their heads. This is totally unacceptable," said Petros Sithole MP, the IFP's Chairperson in Gauteng.
