Nigeria: Rio+20 and Country's Quest for Sustainable Development

Nigeria, like most developing countries has begun series of activities that would facilitate its active participation in the next global Earth Summit, the United Nations Sustainable Development Conference also known as the Rio+20 Summit schedule for Rio de Janerio in June.

According to the United Nations, the Rio+20 Summit will lay the foundations of a world of prosperity, peace and sustainability. It has three topics on the agenda: Strengthening the political commitments to sustainable development; Reviewing the progress and difficulties associated with their implementation and responses to the new emerging challenges of societies.
