Angola: Hallo Trust to Demine Over 80.000 Square Metres

Kuito — About 86.000 square metres of land will be demined in the second quarter of the current year in Chitembo Municipality, Bié Province, by the non governmental organisation "The Hallo Trust".

The information was given to ANGOP by the operations chief of the mentioned NGO in Bié, João Baptista, who revealed that the clearance activity has already started in land reservesd.

João Baptista added that currently has been demined 38.000 square metres that will enable the construction of 100 houses in Chitembo Municipality.

"After the conclusion of the demining work in the municipality, it will be easier for the executive to continue with the building of a hundred houses in Chitembo locality", he said,

He also informed that throughout the previous quarter the authorities removed and cleared about twenty anti-personnel mines and other non detonated devices.

For the success of the mines clearance work The Hallo Trust NGO counts on the commitment of 64 sappers.
