Mozambique: Zimbabwe Promises to Slash HCB Debt

Maputo — The Zimbabwean authorities have promised to pay "at least 40 million US dollars" this month to Hidroelectrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB), the company that operates the Cahora Bassa dam on the Zambezi River, in Mozambique's western province of Tete.

A source in the board of directors of HCB told AIM on Thursday that Zimbabwe has undertaken to pay the money as a condition for HCB resuming "normal power supply" - which is 100 megawatts.
