Nigeria: Harmonisation of Interests Stalls ISAN National Carrier Status

The Federal Government has given an insight into why it was yet to grant a national carrier status to the shipping firm set up by members of the Indigenous Shipowners Association of Nigeria (ISAN).

At a stakeholders' meeting organised by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in Lagos, the Director-General of the agency, Mr. Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi revealed that while the FG was not opposed to the idea of ISAN getting a national carrier status for its shipping firm, there was need to harmonise it with other interests in the maritime sector of the economy and beyond.
