Kenya: Uhuru, Ruto Not Eligible for Top Job, Says Martha Karua

Gichugu MP Martha Karua has reiterated that Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto are not eligible to contest for presidency due to the criminal charges against them at the ICC.

Karua, a presidential aspirant, said this on Sunday at St James Cathedral Church in Kiambu where she had attended a mass service. " If others who are accused or facing charges are quitting office, it is not a matter of Karua to say what they should do. They should also follow the law," said Karua.

The Gichugu MP said the law should be followed and the two should step aside as per the constitution. Karua said the victims of the post election violence should not be forgotten.

"While offering prayers, let us also know that there are IDP's who also need prayers. Let us not be biased in our prayers," said Karua. She said Kenyans should contribute towards national cohesion and good leadership.

"I call upon everyone to take time on national cohesion and peace and contribute towards building the country and not have indusive politics," said Karua.

Karua added that she was confident that she will be in state house as the president saying that she will not make any alliances with anybody.
