Nigeria: Maiduguri Witnesses First Rain

Maiduguri — There was heavy downpour in Maiduguri yesterday, a development which residents described as a relief from serious heat that forces residents to stay awake for most part of the night.

"Allah has answered our prayers because the raining season has set in very early," Muhtar Amin, a cleric at Bolori area said. Our correspondent reports that the rain which started around 4.40pm lasted till around 5.30pm yesterday. During heat period, resident normally sleeps outside their rooms but the enforcement of curfew in Maiduguri town had forced families to sleep in their rooms.
