Gambia: President Jammeh Invited to Mauritania

The president of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, His Excellency Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz has extended invitation to his Gambian counterpart, President Jammeh to undertake an official visit to Nouakchott, the former's special envoy has disclosed.

Hamadi Baba Ould Hamadi, the minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mauritania was speaking to waiting reporters in a brief interview Thursday afternoon at State House in Banjul, shortly after delivering a special message to President Jammeh from his president during a closed-door meeting.

"I have had the honour to deliver a special message from Abdel Aziz to President Jammeh and the content of the message has to do with an invitation to His Excellency the president to undertake an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. But the modalities and the dates will be determined by the two Foreign ministers," Foreign Minister Hamadi, who was accompanied by his Gambian counterpart, Mambury Njie stated.

"His Excellency the president has offered me some advice relating to the way forward to identify the key areas of cooperation between the two countries; and that both countries should work for the mutual interest and benefit of the two nations and their people," he concluded.
