Egypt's pro-revolution forces met on Sunday evening at El-Sawy Culture Wheel in a session that is part of continuous efforts to reach a consensus over one candidate to back for May's presidential elections.
The session compared the agendas of several candidates including Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, Hamdeen Sabahi, Khalid Ali and Hisham Al-Bastawisi to reach a consensual presidential coalition where one of the suggested candidates can continue the race, Middle East News Agency reported.
The attendees agreed to hold further sessions in the coming week in order to reach that consensual resolution swiftly, before the floor for campaigns is officially set to open on April 30.
The Presidential Elections Committee is expected to announce the final list of candidates on April 26.
Head of the Ghad party Ayman Nour, pro-revolution preacher Mazhar Shahin as well as representatives from liberal parties including the Free Egyptians party, Socialist Democratic party, Egyptian Socialist party and prominent politicians and public figures attended the session.
