Mozambique: Welfare Minister Demands Respect for Elderly

Maputo — Mozambique's Minister of Women's Affairs and Social Welfare, Iolanda Cintura, on Sunday said it was intolerable that elderly people are being accused of witchcraft, beaten and expelled from their homes or communities.

Speaking in Maputo, at the launch of public debate of a draft law on the protection of elderly citizens, Cintura stressed the urgency of taking measures to rescue the dignity of the elderly, and provide them with social welfare.
