Banjul — Angola presented Monday in Banjul, Gambia, a report on the current situation of the human rights to the African Commission on People and Human Rights.

The State secretary of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Domingos Augusto, who presented the report, underlined the actions implemented in Angola focussed on protection and promotion of Human Rights.

The presentation of the report follows the obligations under the African Charter of People and Human Rights, of which Angola is a member.

According to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Augusto spoke, among other matters, of the Angolan legislation that ensure the respects of the rights of Angolan citizens, headed by the Constitution.

He also listed public policies that guarantee the development of action on Education, Health, Social Welfare, and participation of citizens in public life.

Acknowledging the report of Angola, the African Commission praised the efforts inserted by the Angolan government aimed at improving the situation of the human rights in the country.

This is the first time Angolan authorities defend a document of the kind at African Commission.
