Rwanda: Three Arrested With Counterfeit Currency

KAYONZA-Police in Kayonza District yesterday arrested three people suspected of counterfeiting money.

Three middle aged men from Rukara Sector, were reportedly caught red-handed forging the currency.

Charles Rutinduka, a resident of Gahini village, noted that fake currency, particularly 2000 and 5000 notes were in circulation.

"The fine texture and security features in these fake notes were very similar to the genuine Rwandan currency. It is very difficult for a common man to tell the difference. So, at night in bars and restaurants the fake money works," he lamented.
