Nigeria: Senate Screens Ojukwu's Widow for Ambassadorial Job

The Senate has screened the widow of the late leader of the defunct Biafran Republic, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, for ambassadorial appointment

Bianca, who could not attend the screening earlier conducted this year due to her husband's death, was yesterday screened by the Senator Mathew Nwagwu-led Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Bianca, who is also the Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Diaspora Affairs, was among the 87 nominees for whom the president had sought the consideration and confirmation as ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Speaking during her screening, she pledged to identify crucial areas where Nigeria could establish and demonstrate its relevance in the international community.

Also yesterday, the committee screened Dr Saleh Okenwa nominated by the president for appointment as a member of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
