Eritrea: Inhabitants of Kudo-Felasi Administrative Area Renovate Dam

Mendefera — The inhabitants of Kudo-Felasi Administrative area have renovated a dam in the locality that was filled with sediment through mobilizing financial and labor resources, besides building 2 Km-long water diversion canal to the dam. Reports indicated that the task was accomplished within 20 days and that a total of 500 man power participated in the popular undertaking.

Out of the participants, Ms. Hewan Solomon and Mr. Tekle Hadgu, indicated that they set the renovation of the dam as a priority in line with their full awareness and experience in soil and water conservation.

Likewise, Mr. Gebrehiwet Gebretekle and Ms. Hanetsa Kesete pointed out that they would reinforce soil and water conservation activities so as to boost the prevailing farming practice in the area.

Mr. Beraki Tesfayonas, Administrator of Kudo-Felasi village, explained that the community's awareness and experience had played vital role in organizing the undertaking. He also said that a total of 500,000 Nakfa was contributed by the inhabitants for renting machinery.

Mr. Amhatsion Kaleab, Administrator of Kudo-Felasi Administrative area, lauded the active participation of the regional Administration and the Agriculture Ministry's branch office.
