Nigeria: Mark Returns, Says 'I'm Hale and Hearty'

The Senate President, David Mark, yesterday returned to Abuja from a week-long medical tour in Tel Aviv, Israel, to the warm embrace of friends and associates.

Mark, looking radiant and healthy, was received on arrival at the Presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Ministers of Interior, Abba Moro, Water Resources, Serah Ochekpe and Minister of State, Trade and Investment, Dr. Samuel Ortom.

Others were Senators Smart Adeyemi, Ahmed Lawan, Suleiman Adoke, Abatemi Usman, Joshua Dariye, Tunde Ogbeha and members of House of Representatives - Samson Okwu, Salem Hassan, Ezekiel Adaji and Adamu Entonu, with the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Moshe Ram, among them.

An emotion laden Senate President thanked President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigerians, especially members of the National Assembly, for their prayers, solidarity and support. He said he was impressed and overwhelmed by the concern shown by his colleagues during his absence.

"I thank God I am now hale and healthy and back to my feet. I will continue to be faithful to God and my commitment to the service of my fatherland," he said.

In their separate comments, Senators Adeyemi, Lawan, Dariye thank God for the health of the Senate President and reaffirmed that the Senate will continue to work in the best interest of the nation.
