Angola: Christians Attends General Conference of Methodist Church

Luanda — Members of the Angolan Methodist Church are participating, from 24 March to 4 May, in the General Conference of this religious organisation, being held in Tampa, Florida, USA.

ANGOP learnt from a press communiqué that, on Wednesday Angola sent two delegations one from East and another from West conference, led by the respectively resident bishops, José Quipungo and Gaspar João Domingos, as well as the emeritius bishops Emílio de Carvalho and Moisés Fernandes.

The General Conference is the body of the United Methodist Church, with plain legislative power about all the subjects related to all the churches that meet from four to four years, without having any executive or administrative power.

It is the only entity that speaks officially on the behalf of the 13 millions of the members of the United Methodist Church worldwide.

The conference is being held under the motto "Making Jesus Christ followers to transform the World". There will be drafted policies and rules where the church will be focused for next four years, as well as looking at other matters related to Methodists believers.

At least 988 delegates are attending the event, coming from many parts of the world.
