Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Ms Amal Pepple said yesterday in Abuja that the ministry has commenced the social housing scheme in partnership with Aso Savings and Loans Plc.
Pepple, who spoke yesterday at the ground breaking ceremony of the scheme, said the ministry provided Aso Savings with 1.5 hectares at Lugbe District for the development of a model and affordable housing scheme for the FCT residents.
She said that the Lugbe pilot scheme was designed as a 4- floor multi-storey complex of six blocks of flats totalling 144 housing units for efficient land utilization in Abuja.
Earlier, Aso Savings Chairman, Mr. Tunde Ayeni, said beneficiaries will enjoy mortgage which will be secured by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria at 6 percent to qualifying contributors to the National Housing Scheme and the Co-operative Housing Scheme of the FMBN.
