Zimbabwe: 'Dollarisation Fails to Stem Rising Poverty'

AN average family in Zimbabwe's urban areas, which have battled high unemployment rates, requ-ires at least US$1 012 per month for basic commodities to survive, a report by a local research firm indicated this week.

The report, which was released by Econometer Global Capital (EGC), which also has offices in South Africa, contrasts sharply with conservative government statistics that indicate a decline in inflation even as prices continue escalating.
