Nigeria: Abuja Swan Pays Condolence to ThisDay Office

The executive committee of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Abuja Chapter, has made a courtesy visit to THISDAY corporate offices Abuja following its bombing last week by extremist sect, Boko Haram.

The SWAN executive, led by Mr Kayode Adeniyi, was received Monday by the Editor Nation's Capital of THISDAY, Mr Nduka Nwosu.

Adeniyi described the episode as an orchestrated attempt to gag the media into submission by using fear and terrorism.

He prayed to God to continue to guide and protect the management and members of staff of the paper in the resolve to say the truth.

Nwosu thanked the sporting association for the visit and added that the outpouring of love from least expected quarters since the attack took place is a statement that the paper was not working in vain all this while.

He said that since THIISDAY was founded in 1995, it had stood for the defence of truth, democracy and free enterprise- values which he said will always be the paper's watchword.
