Kenya: Motorist Dies in His Car in Nairobi Traffic Jam

A motorist was found dead while seated in his car in the Monday night city traffic jam. Nairobi area traffic police boss Patrick Lumumba said flooding on a number of city roads slowed down the traffic flow causing a huge snarl-ups. To avoid the Monday evening traffic mess, President Kibaki's handlers were forced to fly him directly to State House from Kitui where he had gone for an official function.

At the Nyayo Stadium, the body of the man was found slumped on the steering wheel at about 9 pm. He was among thousands of motorists who had been stuck in traffic for more than five hours. Motorists, who noticed the car was not moving went to check only to find the man motionless. They alerted the police, who opened the car and found an identification indication that the man was an employee of Tetra Park industries in industrial Area.
