Lagos — The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties,CNPP, Lagos State, has appealed to the state government and striking doctors to resolve their problems and save lives of Lagosians, who are dying daily in the hospitals.
CNPP, made up of 25 political parties in the state, urged the doctors to "respect the sanctity of lives and their Hippocratic Oath which guides the medical profession, which states that a doctor must avoid the death of patients irrespective of their grievances or socio-economic status and also finish every medical procedure they have started on any patient or discharge or refer them to another health facility."
In a statement by Mr. Akinola Obadia, Chairman, CNPP, and Pastor Ayo Akintayo, State Secretary, CNPP among other leaders, CNPP called on the parties to ensure that the ongoing "dialogue with government must be sustained and resumed immediately as a matter of urgency to resolve this crisis."
It called on the government and striking doctors to "stop the death, reduce the pain and discomfort so that they can be at peace," adding, however, that the "Lagos State Government must do all within its power to make the doctors go back to work immediately in order to stop the continuous loss of lives in Lagos State hospitals."
