Angola: Trade Unions Contribute to Improve Working Conditions - Secretary

Luanda — The secretary general of the Trade Unions Confederation (UNTA-CS), Augusto Manuel Viagem, said Friday in Luanda that the intervention of unions has contributed to improve the social and working conditions of workers.

Manuel Viage was speaking to ANGOP about "The contribution of trade unions in improving of socio-labour conditions."

The Trade Union official said that the claims filed by the workers are often answered by employers, and whenever that happens there is a relative or significant improvement to these conditions, either in the field of remuneration or in the creation of working conditions.

According to the source, the trade union encourages the employers to provide their personnel with professional and continued training.

On the other hand, the secretary general underlined that the issue of the minimum salary continues being analysed by specialised bodies, having expressed optimism about an adjustment in the national minimum wage this year.
