The Jaabe Roberts Foundation last Thursday donated materials such as medals, base line, games, books, pens, pencil, shoes, cloths and sewing machine accessories to the Bundung Lower Basic School (BLBS).

It could be recalled that the foundation was formed and named after Jaabe Roberts in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2010, whose aim is to help students in Gambian schools. Last year, the foundation started donating to some schools in the country.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Bubacarr B. Jonga, the coordinator of the foundation who also deputised for Marcia Roberts, the founder of the group, said that their aim is to help students in a bid to ensure that all students have good and quality education. He disclosed that this is the second time that the foundation is donating to the beneficiary school, adding that it will be a continuous process as their intention is to make such donation every year.

According to him, government alone cannot do it all, noting that they are ready to help the government towards the development of the country. He encouraged the students to grab this opportunity with both hands and make best use of it. He said Marcia Roberts' family has been blessed and they want to share that blessing with students. He also thanked the teachers and assured that they will support students to learn and share experience and ideas among themselves.

For his part, Kemo Jallow, the cluster monitor of Serrekunda expressed delight at the donation and described it as a very good gesture for the students. He called on parents to sent their children to school and advised them (students) to make best use of the materials given to them.

Other speakers include; Alhamdou Touray who spoke on behalf of the parents and Naffie Gaye, the head girl of the school who delivered the vote of thanks.
