One Bakary Tunkara was on Thursday 3rd May 2012 arraigned before the Bundung Magistrates' Court presided over by Principal Magistrate Foster, charged with two counts of the criminal offences, theft and assaulting a police officer, both contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.
On count one, the particulars of offence revealed that the 15th day of April 2012 at Sanchaba Sulay Jobe, the accused stole 26 pieces of iron rods from the compound of one Buba Jatta, valued at D3, 260, being the properties of the said Buba Jatta, thereby committed an offence.
While on count two, the particulars of offence revealed that on the same date and place at Sanchaba Sulay Jobe, the accused unlawfully hit the said Buba Jatta, a police officer, with an iron rod, causing him injury. When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Corporal 2202 Fadera stood for the IGP.The accused was granted bail in the sum of D8, 500 with one Gambian surety.
The case was adjourned to 8th May 2012 for hearing.
