Egypt: Katatni - Government Crisis to Be Solved Soon

People's Assembly speaker Dr. Saad el Katatni said he had got promises from the supreme council of the armed forces SCAF that a solution for the government crisis would be reached in the coming two days.

He said under that solution, a cabinet reshuffle would be made or the government would be dismissed and the draft budget would be submitted to parliament within 48 hours.

Katatni said he asked the SCAF members to consider the government as an interim government and hence questions listed on the parliament agenda could be disposed off.

Katatni said discussions were held on reports that the SCAF is planning to issue a complementary constitutional declaration determining the powers of the president.

He said criteria for selecting the members of the constituent assembly were set adding that the upper and lower houses would be invited to meet soon to select the members of the constituent assembly.
