Tanzania: Isles Boat Disaster - Prosecution Seeks to Amend Charge

Zanzibar — THE prosecution in a case in which eleven people are charged with recklessness which led to the sinking of Mv Spice Islanders killing more than 200 people last September, has indicated it would be filing an application to amend the particulars of the charge.

Prosecutor Omar Khalifan Sururu told the court presided by the acting Registrar of the High Court, Magistrate Yessaya Kayange, of the amendment move, which the defence team comprising Captain John Bendera, Abdallah Juma, Suleiman Shaabani (on behalf of absent advocates: Hamid Mbwezeleni, and Masumbuko Lamwai), did not reject.
