Gambia: Drug Peddler Convicted

Principal Magistrate Sheriff Tabally on the Kanifing Magistrates' Court on Thursday convicted and sentenced one Sajar Jallow to pay a fine of D250, 000 in default to serve five years imprisonment with hard labour. The accused was alleged to be in possession of prohibited drug contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of offence revealed that on or about 22nd of December 2011 at Bundung in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused was in possession of 340kg of prohibited drug, thereby committed an offense. The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced accordingly.
