The accused persons are charged with the offences of office breaking, conspiracy to commit felony and stealing, all contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of the offence on count one stated that, the accused persons, on the 30th April 2012 at Jeshwang Prison, broke into the office of the deputy Commissioner of Prisons with intent to commit felony therein to wit stealing.

Count two revealed that on the same day and place, they conspired among themselves to commit felony therein to wit stealing, and on count three, the accused persons stole the following items; D5, 500;61 rounds of ammunition; and 12 fuel coupons of Galp, thereby committed an offence. All the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, chief inspector A. Jammeh objected to the bail of the accused persons on the ground that nothing has yet been recovered and the matter is still under investigation. Based on this reason, the presiding Magistrate ordered for the accused persons to be remanded in prison custody. Hearing continues on the 23rd May 2012.
