Abidjan — Last month, Ivoirians across the country commemorated the first anniversary of former President Laurent Gbagbo's arrest. Although reconstruction efforts are beginning to bear fruit, price inflation and the deadlocked reconciliation process continue to worry the population. In many ways, the Ivory Coast is on hold.
One year since Gbagbo's arrest and Abidjan has been rather peaceful. The sound of gunfire and explosions are now something of the past. In the early morning hours, as part of what is now my daily routine, I rush to the neighbourhood kiosk for the day's newspapers.
