THE shortage of toilets costs Tanzania colossal 46m US dollars (about 73.6m/-) annually. To eliminate the problem the nation needs approximately million drop holes or latrines.
According to a report published in March, this year, 25 million Tanzanians use unsanitary or shared latrines. The report is titled "Economic Impacts of Poor Sanitation in Africa." It was commissioned by the World Bank and endorsed by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
