Kenya: Sack Nyong'o, Says Washiali

ODM MP for Mumias Ben Washiali yesterday called for sacking of Medical Sevices minister Anyang' Nyong'o to pave way for a probe into the NHIF scam. He asked Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President Kibaki to suspend the minister and order for a forensic audit on the matter by an independent organisation.

Addressing a press conference in Mumias town shortly before his departure to Israel on official duty, Washiali asked the two principals to take action against all those implicated in the NHIF scandal.

He rejected a probe by the Efficiency Monitoring Unit, falls under the PM's office, saying it is likely to be manipulated to favour Nyong'o, who ODM secretary general. "We want the minister out of office because he is likely to interfere with investigations if it will be carried out in his presence" Washiali said.
