Liberia: LACC Boss - Legislature, Judiciary 'Recalcitrant' Over Assets Declaration

Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) Chairperson, Cllr. Frances Johnson-Allison, has asserted that members of the Legislative and Judiciary Branches of the Government of Liberia are 'recalcitrant' over the issue of assets declaration for all public officials. Said the LACC boss: "The failure by the Judiciary and the Legislature to declare their assets has been a real disappointment as far as the LACC is concerned." She stated that all public officials, including members of the Legislature and the Judiciary are supposed to declare their assets, adding that: "They have refused to do so."

However, she expressed the hope that public officials serving in the Legislature and the Judiciary "can come to a point where they will see the need that this fight is not just the Executive's fight."
