Lieutenant General Sami Anan, deputy head of the Supreme Council of Armed Forced, denied what a TV channel reported about a two-day deadline that Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi gave to the political and partisan powers to form the constituent assembly or else he will issue a complementary constitutional declaration.

In a statement to a TV programme on Dream 2 channel, Anan stated that this did not happen at all. Tantawi did not meet parties and political powers since their last joint meeting weeks ago, Anan stated.

The formation of the constituent assembly is in the hands of the parliament since all parties and political powers agreed on its basic criteria and the method for electing its members with the military council.

Al-Jazeera news channel had quoted a military source as saying that the military council intends to issue a constitutional declaration to specify the powers of the president.
