Angola: Supreme Court Annuls Suzana Inglês' Appointment

Luanda — The Supreme Court invalidated the deliberation of High Council of Judicial Magistrature which appointed Suzana António da Conceição Nicolau Inglês, as chairwoman of the National Electoral Commission (CNE).

In a decision dated on 17 May 2012, which reached Angop, the Supreme Court also annuls also the respective tender that enabled Suzana Inglês to the post.

Suzana Inglês was appointed by the High Council of Judicial Magistrature Judicial for as the chairwoman of CNE on January 17, having been invested in the post on 25 January.

Regarding the nullity, the ruling MPLA party Politburo, in a statement, says that it will fully respect the decision and contribute to the strict compliance with the Constitution and law, so that a new chairperson may be elected as quickly as possible, and thus enabling the holding of next general elections in accordance with the Angolan Constitution.
