Zimbabwe: Zuma Sticks to His Guns

SOUTH African President Jacob Zuma, the Southern African Development Com-munity (SADC) appointed facilitator in the Zimbabwe crisis, is insisting on the parties signatory to the Global Political Agreement (GPA) adhering to the agreed election roadmap, dealing a hammer blow to ZANU-PF's push for elections this year.

President Robert Mugabe and ZANU-PF have of late increased their incessant calls for polls to be held this year with or without a new constitution. But Lindiwe Zulu, Zuma's international affairs advisor and spokes-person for the facilitation team, this week dismissed talk of an election under the Lancaster House Constitution saying the poll road-map should be followed.
