Winston Chitando is a man currently holding an unenviable job: being president of the Chamber of Mines in Zimbabwe, he has leadership over members in a rearguard battle against government plans to expropriate their operations.
Yet he accepted the mandate to extend his term by one more year, as provided for by the Chamber's constitution, at the annual general meeting (AGM) in Victoria Falls last week, and will have to take with him the challenge of a wounded general trying to reassure his charges the battle will even so be won.
