The Igbo community in Kaduna has thrown its weight behind the former Head of State and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Presidential Candidate in the 2011 general elections, General Muhammadu Buhari over his call for credible polls in 2015.

The Community said that the statement by Buhari should serve as a wakeup call to President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure good governance and credible elections in Nigeria.

In an interview with Journalists in Kaduna at the weekend, its Public Relation Officer, Chief Patrick Lawson, observed that, rather than castigate Buhari, "the government should look at it with a view to correcting some anomalies in the system and improve on the governance that will bring development to the doorstep of all Nigerians.

"Government should check and see the level of poverty and election fraud and also use the last three years of the administration to perform so that 2015 will be a work over at the polls.

"What we know is that people will always go for a performer irrespective of party, religion or tribe.

"Government should wake up to their responsibility because Nigerians are not interested in the President's religion or tribe so long he is ready to govern sincerely and provide dividends of democracy to all.

"Nigeria is bigger than any individual or political party; hence politicians should focus on the people's mandate of providing basic infrastructures, healthcare, and education and most importantly secure lives and property of Nigerians," he said.
