Nigeria: House Committee Queries Medical Centre Over Diversion of N231 Million

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts has queried the Chief Medical Director of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hosipal, Ile-Ife, Professor Olusanya Adejuyigbe, for "illegal lodgement" of N230.99 million in various commercial banks as fixed deposits.

The committee which discovered the anomalies on Friday during a meeting with management of the hospital on the queries raised by the office of the Auditor General of the Federation (AGF), committee members said the action of Adejuyigbe was illegal and contrary to the provision of circular No. TR No A7&B7/1999 of 18th August 1999 as well as circular No TRY/AS&BS/2009 of 19th June 2009 which authorised ministries, departments and agencies to invest their idle funds in 91days Primary Market Nigeria Treasury Bills.
