Winners have emerged in the 2012 FCT SAGE awards and exhibition which took place last Thursday at Government Science Technical College, Area 3, Garki, Abuja.

In the 'Socially Responsible Business' category, Junior Secondary School (JSS) Jikwoyi took first, while JSS Airport Road and Government Secondary School (GSS) Byazhin came out second and third respectively.

In the Social Enterprise Business category, GSS Jibi took first, GGSS Abaji came second, while JSS Airport Road was third.

Those who took first and second positions will represent FCT at the national awards in Calabar and perhaps even represent Nigeria at the global competition and awards in the United States of America.

Angulu Salihu, Secretary FCT Agency for Science and Technology, who represented the Secretary of Education at the event, explained that SAGE competition is meant for secondary and high school students from all over the world to showcase their business and entrepreneurial skills, adding that JSS Jikwoyi had won the contest four times in five years.

He said that the secondary school students learn new financial literacy skills, social entrepreneurship and volunteerism as well as work on real world projects.

SAGE, an acronym for Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship, is a non-profit organization initiated in the California State University, Chico, USA and operates with a mission to create the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders, whose innovations and social enterprise will address the major unmet needs of the global community.
