Eritrea: Preparations Finalized in Central Region to Mark Independence Day Anniversary in Patriotic Spirit

Asmara — Preparations finalized in Central region to mark Independence Day anniversary in patriotic spirit, according to a report by the regional office of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee.

Col. Andemariam Gebremedhin, coordinator of national holidays in the region, explained that carnivals, community-based get-togethers and other activities have been organized to colorfully mark the great event. Accordingly, 48 institutions and 13 Administrative areas in Asmara City would take part in the parade displaying cultural and socio-economic activities of the region and highlighting the need for nurturing the lofty values of independence, he added.

Moreover, various activities pertaining to Independence Week have been taking place since May 2 with a view to keeping intact the values as regards the history of the Eritrean people's heroic struggle for freedom and national independence.

Mr. Girmai Zerai, who has been engaged in preparing artistic works for the Independence Day celebrations, explained on his part that the youths in the region have demonstrated impressive participation in preparations for the auspicious occasion.

Reports indicate that 166 community-based get-togethers would feature on the 23rd and 24th of this month in all Administrative areas of the Central region.
