Mara — A GROUP of people masquerading as lawyers have emerged in Tarime and Rorya districts, Mara Region and conned several residents into believing that they will take up their cases after paying them.
The bogus lawyers who have been posing as representatives of the Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC) had mainly targeted residents with cases in primary courts. Some residents told reporters over the weekend that the conmen were demanding between 60,000/- and 200,000/- depending on the nature of cases.
