Tanzania: Supply Deficiency Hits Pugu Cattle Market

LIVESTOCK supply at Pugu Market in Dar es Salaam showed mixed trend last week, though the movement failed to affect meat prices in the city.

The weekly market summary issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, last Friday shows cattle total supply dipped slightly by 2.2 per cent to push prices per head to 655/-. Due to the drop of supply at the auction, prices for mature female grade 2 (G2), grade 3 (G3) and male G2 climbed-up slightly by 0.6 per cent to 554,500/- and 2.6 per cent (513,000/-) and 2.4 per cent (645,500/-) per head respectively.
