Kenya: Burglar Killed in Botched Robbery

A suspected thug was lynched by members of the public in Kitui town yesterday morining. The middle-aged man, who was believed to be a member of a gang, was cornered after he allegedly stole money from Happy Family supermarket. The gang is said to have entered the super market by cutting the iron roof at around 4am. They stole an undisclosed amount of money before escaping.

The gang is also said to have attempted to cut through the roof of the neighbouring Jirani supermarket but a guard raised the alarm attracting the attention of other watchmen who ran to his rescue. The suspected thug them attempted to dodge his pursuers by climbing down the opposite wall of the supermarket but he was spotted by street boys who were sleeping on the verandah. The street urchins then gave chase as they called out for help.
