Namibia: Interdict Stops Ex-NBL Workers' Demo

A RECURRING sit-in protest by a group of former Namibia Breweries employees in front of a shopping mall in the Windhoek city centre was brought to an abrupt end through an urgent interdict issued in the High Court in Windhoek on Friday.

In terms of the interim court order, which was issued by Acting Judge Patrick Kauta, the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW) and 41 former employees of Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) were directed to immediately stop the ex-employees' sit-in demonstration in front of the Independence Avenue entrance of Carl List Mall, where the head office of Ohlthaver & List, the controlling shareholder of Namibia Breweries, is situated.
