Eritrea: Independence Day Enthusiastically Celebrated in Gash-Barka Region

The country held carnival shows, among others, to celebrate the day.

Tesenei — Citizens in Gash-Barka and the Administration marked the21st Independence Day anniversary in Tesenei city at regional level. The celebrations took place on May 18 and 19 that featured various activities such as exhibitions by agriculture projects in the region and different carnivals.

Mr. Mohammed Hamd stated, in a speech he delivered on the occasion, that the country has made remarkable accomplishment as regards ensuring social justice and food security, and that the occasion affords a moment when the citizenry reaffirm commitment to sustain endeavors towards the realization of the nation's set development goals.

Mr. Teklebirhan Gebrewold, Chairperson of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee in the region, noted that the special event is being celebrated at a time when the nation's bright future is becoming ever more evident, and when the steadfastness of the Eritrean people against enemy conspiracies is gaining momentum. He also commended a number of individuals and organizations that made due contribution in organizing the celebrations.

Different songs, dramas and other activities featured on the Day, besides display of exhibitions depicting cultural traditions in the region and artistic works.
