Sudan: Water Pumps Fail in Seraf Umra, Dankoj, El Nasim Camps

Seraf Umra — Shortages of drinking water in Seraf Umra, Dankoj and El Nasim camps for internally displaced people is getting worse as pumps are failing and other stations have reportedly been sabotaged by unknown groups.

A witness told Radio Dabanga that displaced people now face an increasingly difficult situation in acquiring drinking water.

He said there is now only the Shabia well serving the whole area, which is being inundated with people.

This has forced some people to walk long distances to Bari and Seraf Umra town to find drinking water.

He appealed to local authorities to immediately intervene and help the area by access to clean water through fixing the old sources or adding new ones.
