Swaziland: Earth Tremors Felt KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga

Johannesburg — A minor earthquake in Swaziland resulted in earth tremors being felt in parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga, East Coast Radio reported on Monday.

The earthquake was reported to have taken place around 9pm on Sunday night. It measured four on the Richter scale, the Council for Geoscience's Ian Saunders said.

Residents in Newcastle, Ladysmith, Dundee, Mkuze, Piet Retief, and Pongola felt the tremors from the earthquake, East Coast Radio reported.

Aftershocks were also reportedly felt in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.

"Our house and windows started suddenly rattling at 9pm. It only lasted a few seconds where we are," Mkuze resident Bronwen Kelly said.
