A 27-old-year junior doctor at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Desmond Kabah, has reportedly been murdered at his official residence on the hospital premises.
The deceased, who is the son of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Chiana-Paga, Leo Kabah, and arrived at the premier health facility six days ago to do his housemanship, was found dead in a pool of blood oozing from his nose, armpit and private parts.
The Accra Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Police Service, Deputy Superintend of Police (DSP) Freeman Tettey, told The Chronicle in an interview yesterday that the incident was reported to the Korle-Bu police by security personnel of the hospital.
He further narrated that two friends of the late junior doctor, who did not see their friend (Dr Desmond Kabah) for two days (Friday and Saturday last week), rushed to his room, only to see his lifeless body on his bed, with the bed sheet soaked with blood.
The friends quickly reported the matter to the Korle-Bu Hospital security, who in turn, reported the matter to the police.
He said the police followed up and saw the body with blood stains under his armpit, private part and in the nose. According to the DSP Tettey, the room was disorganized, while the key to the room was lying on the centre table.
DSP Tettey told The Chronicle that the body of Dr. Desmond Kabah had been placed in the hospital's morgue for autopsy, but no arrest had so far been made.
He stressed that the police had taken information from friends, neighbours and father of the deceased, and that the Homicide Unit of the Ghana Police Service was investigating the horrible incident.
DSP Tettey was quick to state: "It will be too early to conclude whether it is a murder or suicide." The Public Relations Officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Mr. Mustapha Salifu, expressed shock over the death of the junior doctor.
