Gambia: Kombo Kerewan Football Field Inaugurated

The Kombo Kerewan Youth and Sports Committee on Friday inaugurated their football field where the 2012 Kombo North District Nawettan is expected to kickoff. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the public relations officer of the District Sports Committee, Ken Joof andpeople from the community.

Speaking at the event, Joofthanked the Almighty for making the inauguration possible andsuccessfulbefore he proceeded to applaud all those present. He stressed that the pitch is not onlyfor the benefit of Kombo Kerewan but the whole Kombo North since the 2012 district tournament will kickoff at their ground. He added that it will also give the youngsters the opportunity to showcase their talents that could earn them possible moves to the country's league clubs.

Sami Estate wins inaugural game

Meanwhile, as part of activities marking the opening of the new Kombo Kerewan field, Sami Estate emerged winners of the first ever game played at the new pitch when they beat Daranka in the finals. The two teams were a part of the four-team tourney that also included Lamin and Mandinarry. Sami Estate defeated Daranka 3-2 in a post-match penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 stalemate.
